Leaving On A Southern Train

Challenging the cliche of another fallen Rock God.

songs-about-menScott Weiland, formerly of the bands Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, passed away recently.

He was found dead of a heart attack on the eve of his comeback after a lifetime battling bipolarism and addiction, mostly in the spotlight of celebrity.

In light of a heartfelt plea from an ex-wife to not glorify his passing as a tragedy that a merciless music industry will benefit from,  it is important to recognize that the demons he dealt with are in no way foreign to the average person.

Rest in peace Scott.

Interstate Love Song

By Dean Deleo / Robert Emille DeLeo / Eric Kretz / Scott Richard Weiland

Waitin’, on a Sunday afternoon
For what I read between the lines
Your lies

Feelin’, like a hand in rusted shame
So do you laugh, or does it cry?
Reply

Leavin’, on a southern train
Only yesterday, you lied
Promises of what I seemed to be
Only watch the time go by
All of these things you said to me

Breathin’, is the hardest thing to do
With all I’ve said and all that’s dead for you
You lied, good bye
